Community Rules & Guidelines​

This document outlines the rules and general expectations of The Family RP community. While our preference is always to allow as much creative freedom as possible for every roleplayer, we recognize that, for the health of the community and the sake of others’ creativity, some boundaries must be set. It is our hope and goal to remain as limited as possible in these restrictions, and manage them responsibly -- both in how they are created, and in how they are upheld.

We treat rules as hard boundaries that should not be crossed under any circumstances. However, we also recognize that mistakes happen, and some offenses are worse than others. For this reason, we define rule violations by three categories: Primary, Major, and Minor. Additionally, we have some rules specific to the game server being played on.

The Family RP Staff - Our Admins, Developers, Moderators, Safety Team, Application Team, and Helpers - want to ensure that every member of our community feels welcome and wanted, knowing their opinions will be heard, and that they are in a safe environment to enjoy roleplay in. We always welcome and encourage any feedback, questions, or concerns from our community in Tickets in Discord. No matter how small the issue may seem to you, even if you aren’t certain it is worth bringing forward, please feel free and welcome to bring the matter to us.

Primary​

Primary rules are core to the health and values of the community, to the extent that violating them is considered inexcusable and, in most cases, results in a lengthy suspension and/or immediate removal. These rules are as follows:

Age Requirement​

All players AND all characters portrayed on TFRP servers must be 18 years of age or older.

Hate Speech & Discrimination​

Any language, remarks, or actions that show or promote hatred, violence, or intolerance toward another player OR character due to color, nationality, gender identity, sexual preference, religious beliefs and/or physical or mental disabilities is prohibited.

Harassment & Bullying​

Any derogatory remarks, insults, sexual harassment, or similar comments directed toward another player, developer, or member of staff are prohibited.

Toxicity & Firestarting​

Engaging in public discussions or arguments in a way that defames or antagonizes another player, developer, or member of staff is prohibited.

Real Money Transactions​

Offering or accepting real money for in-game roleplay, mechanical, or gameplay advantages is prohibited.

Cheating & Hacking & Third Party Software​

Using third-party hacks and cheats, or otherwise modifying the game in a way intended to give an unfair advantage, is prohibited. This includes use of third party communications while on server.

Sexual Assault / Drugging RP​

Any roleplay that involves sexual assault including, but not limited to: non-consensual touching, rape, etc. is not permitted. Drugging another character without their knowledge is not allowed.

Major​

Major rules are those that govern behavior which is typically highly damaging or disruptive to others’ roleplay or enjoyment thereof. Depending on the context of the situation, most major violations will be met with a suspension, although repeated violations can easily lead to removal from the community.

Abuse of Mechanics​

Using in-game mechanics in a way that is a bug, glitch, or significantly outside the bounds of their intended use is prohibited. This includes acts such as combat logging or relog abuse, or abusing emotes.

Metagaming​

Using or acting on information that you have learned out-of-character as a player, but your character has not learned in-game, is prohibited.

Stream Sniping & Activity​

While you are on the server, you are strictly prohibited from being in the stream of anyone else currently playing on the server regardless of service. This includes minimized or muted tabs.

Torture RP​

Torture RP is prohibited unless there is OOC consent from all parties involved prior to it beginning. This can be obtained via /looc or Discord, etc. Failure to obtain consent prior to the act is a major rule violation.

Deathmatching (RDM/VDM)​

Killing or harming another player without good roleplay reason is not allowed. There must be RP that leads up to or initiates an active scenario with other players.
Utilizing a vehicle (or animal) to kill or harm another player is not allowed.

ERP​

Erotic RP is not allowed on server. This includes, but is not limited to, /me’s, /scenes, and in VOIP.

OOC/Breaking Character​

Do not break character or go OOC for any reason while in game. We are a roleplay community, and as such, you must be in character while on our servers at all times. Do not go OOC in voice to address bugs. If there is a rule break situation, finish the active role play scenario then open an appropriate ticket or report.

Minor​

Minor rules are those that govern behavior which may be damaging or disruptive to others’ roleplay or enjoyment thereof. Depending on the context of the situation, most minor violations will be met with a warning, although repeated violations can easily lead to suspensions and removal from the community.

Quality of Roleplay & FailRP​

Failure to uphold the standards of roleplay expected by the Family RP Community and Staff. This includes, but is not limited to examples such as: NVL (No value for your character’s life), Law Enforcement baiting, sharing information between your own characters, acknowledging or acting on /me’s or statuses out of your visual area, not portraying your injuries or failing to rest appropriately after being downed (especially by other players), info-dumping, using healing items while in an active situation, utilizing “stunt jumps” or other unrealistic jumps or terrain, dismissing the roleplay of others, etc.

Powergaming​

Forcing your will through an action, such as a /me, use/abuse of mechanics, or vocal statement or removing the ability of the targeted player(s) to choose how they react is strictly prohibited. Inflicting unrealistic roleplay actions on others is not permitted. Taking an action that abuses any game mechanic or lack of game mechanic for personal gain or advantage is not allowed.

In-Game Text Channels​

Use of any in-game IC text channel (Such as: Ads, Anonymous Ads) for OOC comments, unwanted spam or remarks, etc is prohibited. Use of any in-game OOC text channel (Such as /gooc, /looc) in excess, for unneeded commentary or remarks, for improperly communicating IC information, etc is prohibited.

/me & /status​

Use of these tools must only be for RP purposes. These tools should be utilized to convey actions or something that can be observed. Anything that cannot be seen or observed from a character should not be displayed in using these commands. If you are reading this to get in our community you need to type in coffeecup.

Hostile Group Limit​

You may not have more than 6 players in your group engaging in a hostile roleplay scenario. This applies to all organizations and parties on the server. This rule does not prevent any organization from recruiting more than 6 players into their organization, just from having that many initiating any active hostile situation.

OOC Recruitment
Organizations who wish to add a member(s) to their group through an out-of-character agreement must get admin approval first if that would increase the organization’s total roster to 5 or higher, regardless of any in-character connection the member(s) have to the organization. This rule does not apply to state employees in GTA or law enforcement in RDR, which have their own recruitment rules.

GTA-Specific​

GTA Specific Rules are just that, rules that apply only to our FiveM/GTA server. These rules are treated in the same vein as those in the Minor category above.

Gang & Business Discord​

TFRP Staff must monitor all IC/OOC Gang & Business communications. Your organization must be set up in the Gang & Business Discord or have a section within the main server. Use of an outside, unmonitored discussion that orchestrates on-server activities is strictly prohibited.

State Facilities & Surveillance​

All State of San Andreas properties must be regarded as having proper law enforcement or security presence at all times and possessing operational surveillance that captures activity in and around the facility which can be requested from any player should the need arise. Players are encouraged to open Evidence Tickets to provide any information a facility camera may see. Current State Facilities: All Police Stations. All Hospitals. LSIA. Bolingbroke Prison. Courthouse.

Prohibited Areas & Vehicles​

The following areas are considered off limits or restricted access to players without approval: Military Base, Aircraft Carrier, NOOSE Facility, Merryweather Dockyard, Bolingbroke Prison.
The following vehicles are off limits: Tanks, Fighter Jets, Infantry Transport Vehicles, UAZ’s, Military Fuel Tankers, Cargobobs, and any Military Helicopters.

Gang & Business Restrictions​

You may only have one character involved in a gang or business storyline at any given time. If you do have multiple characters involved in separate gangs and their storylines interact, you must choose one to continue forward until the storyline is resolved.

LEO Presence​

In-Character actions and decisions should always be made under the assumption of a heavy LEO presence within the state at all times, even if there is a distinct lack of LEO presence on the server. Abusing a lack of LEO presence is prohibited.

LEO/EMS Clothing​

Wearing any LEO or EMS Branded Clothing (Uniform shirts, badges, vests, etc) by civilians is prohibited.

State Employee Corruption​

State Employee characters cannot be corrupt. Examples: A LEO cannot assist someone to destroy evidence or escape charges. An EMS or Doctor cannot assist criminals in an active combat situation so they may continue combat or escape. A Jailor cannot facilitate a prison break or riot.

Teamspeak​

The use of Teamspeak is restricted to the use of only State Employees and approved citizens with radio scanners. Teamspeak information is not to be used outside of what your characters already know.

Any state employee who is connected to Teamspeak must meet either of the criteria below at all times.

1. You're not on the server
2. You're on the server as a law-abiding citizen (Excluding traffic offenses / recreational drug use)

RDR2-Specific​

RDR2 Specific Rules are just that, rules that apply only to our RedM/RDR2 server. These rules are treated in the same vein as those in the Minor category above.

Respawn Rule​

When utilizing /respawn, you should not rejoin any active RP scenario you were just downed in.

Executions & Finishing Blows​

If an aggressor takes an action to finish you off at the end of an RP interaction (such as an intentional finishing move at the conclusion of a gunfight, or an execution style attack on you), you will not have full memory of the events that led to your character being downed. Upon respawning or being recovered and taken somewhere for treatment, your character will forget most of the finer details of the scenario.
